Ismael Bangoura, born in Guinea West Africa in 1975, has been musical director and lead drummer for Jeh Kulu Dance and Drum Theater since 1997. He has been studying music since age nine, and primarily plays the djembe and krin, though he's fantastic on the dunduns, too. He arranges the music for Jeh Kulu dance and Drum Theater, provides live music for dance classes, and teaches regular drum classes as well.

Sidiki Boze Sylla was born in Conakry, Guinea and was around music from a young age. He participated in and won many local competitions in Guinea until ultimately he joined one Guinea's premier dance and drum companies -- Ballet Djoliba. He toured extensively with them, performing throughout West Africa and the world.

In 1997 Sidiki moved to the US and became Master Dancer, Principal Choreographer, and Artistic director of Jeh Kulu Dance and Drum Theater. He has worked at universities and schools in Vermont, New York, and New Hampshire teaching and sharing his traditions. He currently resides in Burlington, VT, and teaches dance class several times a week and performs regularly.

Sidiki and Ismael will be joined by Soriba Simbo Camara!  Simbo began his traditional African dance training at the age of 5 in Conakry, Guinea, West Africa.
Throughout his career he studied with various dance companies in Guinea. Then in 1998 he was invited to join the National Ballet Djoliba where he was a soloist for five years. Simbo was subsequently invited to join the acclaimed National Ballet, Les Ballets Africains de Guinee where he was a principal dancer until 2006. Simbo has the unique distinction of being the only artist from his generation to belong to both of the national ballets.
