The Contra Costa Chorale, directed by Cindy Beitmen, presents I Love You California, with a performance featuring Californias rich musical heritage from the time of the missions through the 21st century. The concert will include music from the 18th and 19th century California mission books, California Spanish folk songs brought by Mexican immigrants in the second half of the 19th century, songs sung by the Gold Rush 49ers, music performed at the 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition, and iconic California pop music. Modern classical composers will also be represented, including a newly commissioned piece by David Montoya in celebration of our 50th anniversary entitled Our True Heritage. Accompanying the Chorale will be fiddle, guitar, harp, bass, and percussion, with Cara Bradbury on the piano. As with all CC Chorale concerts, the music will be interspersed with fun and informative facts and anecdotes--and the audience will be invited to sing along at the end!
