David Wax Museum & Joe Pug at Linneman's Riverwest Inn
Touring in support of their forthcoming album, Knock Knock Get Up, David Wax Museum will be returning to Milwaukee for a co-headlining show with Joe Pug! Last time in Milwaukee, David Wax Museum played to a crowded house at the Cactus Club in March & Joe Pug opened for Trampled by Turtles at Summerfest this past July!
David Wax Museum's eclectic sound has deep roots in Mexican and American soil. On several trips south of the border, including a yearlong Harvard fellowship, David Wax has immersed himself in the country's rich traditional music culture, son mexicano, learning from the form's living masters. Suz Slezak was homeschooled by her father on a small farm in rural Virginia, and reared on music old time, Irish, classical, and folk. The two met in 2007 and began blending their unique musical perspectives to form the band.
"David Wax Museum kicks up a cloud of excitement with its high-energy border-crossing sensibility." -New Yorker "A band that joyfully celebrates and preserves the heart of Americana music, David Wax Museum has quickly warmed the ears of thousands." -David Dye, World Café
The momentum of Joe Pug's self released debut EP, Nation of Heat (20k cd's sold & 30k downloads) attracted the attention of Nashville indie label Lightning Rod Records, who signed Pug and released his full-length debut "Messenger" in 2010. The album was met with critical acclaim, with Paste Magazine saying "Unless your surname is Dylan, Waits, Ritter or Prine, you could face-palm yourself to death trying to pen songs half as inspired as the 10 tracks on Joe Pug's debut full-length." Joe Pug released The Great Despiser in April of 2012 on Lightning Rod Records
