Anatole Krasnyansky was born in the former Soviet Union, and survived the Holocaust by fleeing with his mother to Tashkent. Trained as an architect, he participated in the restoration of the Winter Palace at the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg and was the principal architect for the Museum of Historical Treasures in Kiev. In 1975, he immigrated to the United States with his family to escape the political oppression and anti-Semitism rampant in his country. He settled in Los Angeles where his broad knowledge of design, graphic art and structure led him to a career as a set designer for some of the major motion picture studios in Hollywood. But his first love and inspiration has always come from his paintings that embody many sectors of art including realism, expressionism, cubism and modernist surrealism. Here in the U.S., he found fertile ground for this aesthetic growth and has been a full time painter for the past 30 years.
