Left home alone day after day, four year old Lucy relies on her imagination for company. She spends her time playing Barbies, tea party, and planning trips with her imaginary best friend Mr. Marmalade, who has a cocaine addiction and a penchant for pornography and kinky sex. And Larry, her only real friend, is the youngest suicide attempt in the history of New Jersey. Fantasy and reality collide and intertwine in this hilarious and heartbreaking new play by Noah Haidle. Delightfully subversive and achingly familiar, MR. MARMALADE is a darkly absurd comedy about what the real world really is.
