2013 AIACV Architecture Festival: Family Architectural Drawing Safari
Join Architect Saxon Sigerson, AIA for a fun family-oriented  drawing experience!

Drawing is a great way to get to know the city and its buildings.  This event focuses on how to draw for information and understanding by learning to look closely at a building and its parts.  Almost everyone has some anxiety about their ability to draw.  Saxon helps relieve that feeling by teaching a friendly approach to drawing.

After a brief tutorial, the group will split into smaller groups to draw the sections, elevations and perspectives they just learned about. Then, the group will meet up and enjoy picnic lunches while viewing and discussing the morning's results.

Each safari is limited to 30 registrants.  A second safari may be added depending on demand.

Bring a chair, hat, sunscreen, a picnic lunch and water. Paper and pencils will be supplied.

Cost:$5
Children 10 and above welcome with a parent or adult caregiver.

Sunday, October 13  9am - 1pm (tutorial at 9, safari at 10)

Where: Meet at 6th & T Streets in Downtown Sacramento (at the corner of South Side Park). Street parking available.

About the Festival:

The central theme around the Central Valley Architecture Festival is an exploration of the identity of our region; the relationship of architecture  and design to our culture, landscape, climate and history.

The festival mission is three-fold:

1. Highlight existing relationships between the region and its architecture.

2. Create an ongoing dialogue to inform a distinct, regional, architectural identity.

3. Facilitate greater transparency with the public in how architects create our built environment and how it impacts their daily lives.
