09/15 Sat 8:30 ~ KENNY WHITE; also ROB MORSBERGER ~ $20
Kenny White is one of the most sought after producers/composers/pianists in NYC. He's written and arranged literally hundreds of national TV and radio commercials, working with Linda Ronstadt, Dwight Yoakam, Gladys Knight, Aaron Neville, Ricky Skaggs, Kathy Mattea and others on tunes indelibly printed in your mind. He has also scored and written songs for many indie and major studio films. His production of Shawn Colvin's I Don't Know Why, from Fat City, helped earn her a Grammy nomination. Amid all his success, Kenny woke up one morning and realized that his real passion may have eluded him ...up to that point. He took his collection of well crafted, insightful & very musical compositions, assembled a group of A-List players and recorded Uninvited Guest, then hit the road with some of his very talented pals. This worked so well and to everyone's delight (including our own), that we're sure you'll be delighted too!
Singer-songwriter and classically-trained composer Rob Morsberger has been featured on PRI/NPR, and has received raves from USA Today, The Boston Globe, The Boston Herald and more. Writing in the Herald, renowned rock critic Kevin Convey stated that Morsberger's "...album is the kind of hyperliterate, pop-inflected singer-songwriter outing that went out of style when Warren Zevon died. And, he can write a hook that could make angels weep." As a sideman/arranger, he is currently working on the new Patti Smith album; other credits include My Morning Jacket, Crash Test Dummies, Marshall Crenshaw, Jules Shear, Loudon Wainwright III, Dan Zanes and The Roches. Scoring/arranging credits include Boardwalk Empire, Masterpiece Theater, NOVA and Frontline. He was also composer for the award-winning PBS series NOVAscienceNOW for its first five seasons.
