Its Christmas in Hawaii and James Littleton, a small town North Carolina girls high school basketball coach, has arrived with his assistant, and former player, Meredith Erwin, for time away in paradise.
Jamess wife has recently left him, and taken their sons, and the team, a perennial state powerhouse, is reeling for the first time. Amid the struggles, James and Meredith hope to kindle a new relationship. When the schools AD calls with news that the team star has attempted suicide, James and his abusive coaching tactics are blamed - tactics Meredith knows all-too-well.
A beautiful getaway becomes a battleground as old hurts surface and new sides are chosen.
