"Cruisin' at . . . Libby's Diner"
"Cruisin' at . . . Libby's Diner" is a very musical 50's & 60's saga wrapped around teenage crushes and the drama created from those unpredictable teen romances. This is a fun-filled, toe-tapping musical with numerous classic rock 'n roll favorites such as "Rock Around the Clock" . . . and many, many more.
The musical wraps its story around Libby, and her experiences as the proprietor of the diner interwoven with Mary Jane, her ever-so-lovable but not-so-bright or dependable valley girl waitress.
As the musical unfolds, the place spins out of control with romantic flings and disasters between Mary Jane, her boyfriend, her best girlfriend and her boyfriend, who still has his eye on Mary Jane. Lyrics of well-known oldies like "Lipstick on Your Collar", "My Girl", "My Boyfriend's Back", and so many others help unravel this unpredictable plot.
All of this confusion just seems to add to the charm of Libby's Diner, which appears to be the most popular place for all the teeny-boppers to hang out -- especially on Friday nights when Wolf Man Jack emcees the sock hops. The excitement peaks at the diner when celebrities like Sonny and Cher and Buddy Holly, among others, will unexpectedly drop in to delight patrons with a song.
