Event

The Garden Party
Join us Sunday, September 9th from 5-7PM at the L&N train station for The Garden Party!

Local chefs will be paired with local farmers to bring us delicious goods which you won't want to miss. Folks from Good People will be supplying the beer and, if that wasn't good enough, the Red Mountain White Trash old-time string band will be stomping up a storm. Good food, good beer, good music, good company. How else would you want to spend your Sunday?

Our outstanding restaurants include
Jim'n'Nicks, our title sponsor and purveyor of delicious, locally grown food
Epiphany Cafe, Chuck's Fish, Mary's Cakes and Pastries, Carmello Cafe, Manna and Evangelines.

We have three ticket options: $35 ($40 at the door) for regular admission, including food, beer and music; $50 ($55 at the door) for our special VIP section which includes a separate lounge seating area with access to a private bar, a wine tasting from Alabama's Ozan Vineyard, distributed by Carpe Vino and Rush wines, wine from Spirits and roped off seating for the film screening following (VIP tickets are for those 21 and older) or; $25 with a valid student ID.

Sound good? It gets better. After you eat and drink, we'll head on over to the Bama Theatre where DCGP co-founder Andrew Grace is screening his critically acclaimed documentary film "Eating Alabama."
In search of a simpler life, a young couple returns home to Alabama where they set out to eat the way their grandparents did  locally and seasonally. But as they navigate the agro-industrial gastronomical complex, they soon realize that nearly everything about the food system has changed since farmers once populated their family histories. A thoughtful and often funny essay on community, the South and sustainability, "Eating Alabama" is a story about why food matters. The screening is free but donations to DCGP would be appreciated. Be sure to stay after the movie for a panel discussion with the film-maker himself.
