Black Latina The Play
Teatro La Tea in association with the Black Latina Movement present: Black Latina (the Play).Black Latina is the story of being a Black Latina in the U.S. Whether dark skinned or indeed African American and Hispanic, Black Latina is the journey of one's struggle to identify with both cultures.Throughout the play the characters close the gap between all Black Latinos from skin color, hair, facial features, and (most importantly) background all while dealing with both the external factors from society and media and the internal factors of family and friends viewpoints. Black Latina not only deals with the common ideas of racism between blacks and whites within the U.S, but looks deeper and further into the unspoken internalized racism faced by African Americans, Hispanics, and Black Latinos.
