"Riveting" - Music Connection
Amilia k Spicer's songwriting fuses together influences from the different places she calls home- the languid textures of rural Pennsylvania, the twang and moonlit fever of Texas Americana; the blistering sunshine of Topanga Canyon, and the back alley bite of Hollywood. Whether playing her piano, guitar, mandolin or banjo, that dichotomy of light and dark, small-town wonder with a keen Los Angeles edge, is the map running over her melodies.
With a smoky, sometimes soaring, often ethereal voice and a sparkling, impish wit, Amilia has been described in the music press both as "Cinematic" and "delightful". For all of her underground maneuvering, her songs have been frequently heard on film and television, and her work is widely respected in the songwriting world- regularly performing at the famous Kerrville Folk Festival, The Kennedy Center, or Hotel Café. She has recorded projects and toured with artists such as Jackson Brown, John Prine, Peter Case, John Gorka, and David Knopfler.
In addition to her performance and songwriting, Amilia is an award winning studio producer, recently awarded two of the top honors at LA's DIY Independent Music Awards, Song of the Year and Producer of the Year (with Ed Tree). Not by accident, she calls her own record label Free Range Records, which is described in true quirky fashion: "Born a small, fierce critter in the midst of Hollywood sharpshooters".
Amilia's eagerly anticipated third album is currently in the final stages of produiction and is scheduled for release in early 2013
