By mixing rich, earthy atmospheres with electrifying rhythms, The Malah explore the meeting point of cutting-edge technology and ancient musical theory. Creating a unique sound that is praised in both the "Jam" and "Electronica" communities. The music is constantly evolving and brings together influences from Funk, Hip Hop, Jazz, and World Beat to Dubstep, Trance, and Breakbeat. Using their music as a tool to send a positive message of love and harmony, The Malah has become known for giving their fans an uplifting musical experience. The Malah has played alongside STS9, Disco Biscuits, Lotus, Shpongle, Conspirator, Umphrey's McGee, EOTO, Bluetech, Bonobo, Pnuma Trio, Big Gigantic, Pretty Lights and many more. BOOKWORM
Bookworm is a one man musical project based out of Asheville, NC. Many hours spent up late in the studio perfecting the texture and nuance heard in his compositions result in a very diverse but cohesive sound that is constantly evolving. On stage, Bookworm brings a high energy and varied palette of electronic music blended together into an absolutely unique experience. At a time when it's simply easier to tow the line playing mind numbing club bangers, Bookworm has taken the road less traveled, quickly gaining fans themselves also in search of something different.
Honing a catalog that continues to grow in range, Bookworm has a rather interesting set of accomplishments already under his belt.
In April of 2010, he claimed the site-wide #1 spot for his dubstep remix of Mochipet's "Pythagorean Hyphy Proof" on Additech's download charts. Switching genres at the start of 2011, his track "Ursine Combat Squad" from the "Mindelixir Presents: Repeat Business" compilation was featured in Beatport's Top 10 Must Hear DnB chart. Bookworm has also shown his talent for more classically styled hip hop on Lab Coat's "Hi" EP and recently he has been experimenting with house and 2 step. This kind of versatility has lead to radio plays from San Francisco all the way to Serbia. Bookworm's music has been released on Abstract Logic Recordings, Skew Records, Blunted Funk Recordings, Daly City Records and Lab Coat.
In a short few years on the touring circuit, Bookworm has already shared billings with such acts as Joker, Big Gigantic, Lazer Sword, Conspirator, Ghostland Observatory, Eliot Lipp, Mindelixir, Bonobo, Alex B, Eoto and Emanciptor. Now, together with fellow Asheville based producers Two Fresh, Jables and Peripheral, Bookworm has formed the Lab Coat beat collective. The crew has been creating a considerable amount of buzz in the electronic music scene since 2010, releasing multiple EPs while curating a top notch original podcast series. With a serious amount of momentum built up this year, Bookworm's future seems expansive and bright.
