SHOSHANA BEAN Master Class in Musical Theatre Performance
Broadway star Shoshana Bean will present a master class in Musical Theatre performance, launching Bridgetown Conservatory of Musical Theatre, on Saturday October 29, 2016 from 11am to 3pm. Fifteen to twenty lucky performers will have the opportunity to work with Shoshana Bean in a one-on-one coaching during the master class. For a lower price ticket, students can audit and observe during the 4-hour intensive.
Shoshana Bean has been teaching around the world since 2004 and shares a wealth of knowledge from over 30 years of professional performance experience. Through one on one coachings in a group setting Shoshanas goal is to get to the heart of the lyric, by getting to the heart of each performer.
My goal is to make their performance as emotionally connected and moving as it is vocally thrilling. That combination, Shoshana believes, is lightning in a bottle!
Through the process of breaking down and analyzing the lyric Shoshana assists students in effectively telling a story and clearly communicating a lyric. She guides the students through a series of questions and exercises in order to custom fit the song to the singer in the most personal way, highlighting their individual strengths and helping them to find an honest, authentic and powerful connection to the piece.
Shoshana exposes and chips away at the resistance, insecurities, habits and fears that stand in a performers way. They will leave empowered with a much clearer and much more personal understanding of their song, of who they are and what unique gifts they bring to the table. Students gain the tools necessary to be the type of performer who can move an audience and deliver a strong, stand-out audition. Shoshana also shares tools for proper audition etiquette, repertoire building, vocal health, technique and style.
Each class begins with a brief Q&A. Participants are asked to prepare one song they are passionate about on which they would like to be work, and additionally, bring a back-up song. Classes are typically 4 hours in length and can accommodate anywhere from 16-20 participating students. Each student will receive between 10-15 minutes of individualized coaching. These classes are also open to be attended and audited by an unlimited number of non-participating attendees. Ages 14 and over are preferred.
