Choral Series Subscription includes: (12/11/12 or 12/13/12) Candlelight Christmas (1/31/13) Austria: Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn, Schubert (2/28/13) Bach: St. John Passion (4/18/13) Great Choruses - Ireland, Vaughan Williams, Ives, von Weber, Beethoven - Beglarian: World Premiere written for Voices of Ascension - Winners of the 2013 Sorel Composition Medallion (5/21/13) Masters of the Renaissance: Palestrina & Victoria We begin the choral series with our immensely popular Candlelight Christmas Concerts - four centuries of Christmas music, all amidst the glow of hundreds of candles. Due to popular demand, we are offering two identical performances this year. January brings us an Austrian festival - works by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, and Haydn - one glorious piece after another! In February we present one of the most profound pieces ever written, Bach's St. John Passion. Truly a special occasion! In April, our Great Choruses program promises to be a spectacular celebration of favorite choral pieces, with the full 40 Voices of Ascension. And, finally, in May, our annual Renaissance concert will focus on two of the greatest large-scale works from the late Renaissance: Palestrina's Stabat Mater for two choirs and Victoria's Requiem.
