Colleen Manchester
Assistant Professor, Department of Work & Organizations

What happens when workers who have pushed pause on their career want to re-engage? Research shows substantial pay penalties associated with career interruptions. Strategies for avoiding such penalties are in high demand. What can employers do to facilitate career success after a pause? What actions can workers take? What are the barriers facing individuals navigating re-entry?

Work and organizations expert Colleen Manchester will present academic research on career breaks, then lead a panel discussion with re-entrants, employers, and the audience. The goal of this session is to share and gather information from the community on needs around career breaks to develop strategies, tools, and support for those who have taken or are thinking about taking a pause.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet with career counselors and peers to get feedback on their resume.
