CRANKIE WORKSHOP
Northwest Puppet Center is pleased to offer a hands-on crankie workshop for participants ages 6 years old and up.
What are crankies?
Crankies are hand-crafted scrolls which are mounted in boxes and stories unroll as it cranks along. In this workshop, you will have the chance to work with Dejah Leger to create a scrolling story of your own.
Who is the instructor?
Dejah Leger is a talented graphic artist and musician so crankies provide the perfect combination. Along with her father-in-law, Louis, they frequently perform Acadian and French-Canadian music paired with Dejah's paper cut images and shadow puppetry. When joined by the rest of their family, La Famille Leger is known for keeping musical traditions of Quebec and New Brunswick vitally alive in the Pacific Northwest.
Don't miss this great opportunity to start your own family tradition of crankies!
Please note: parents, grandparents or other caregivers are encouraged to attend with young children. If cost is an issue please contact Northwest Puppet Center directly. info@nwpuppet.org
