The Novel Ideas create a blend of pastoral, harmony driven, and plaintive Americana.  Along with the hard driving bluegrass of Mile Twelve and the lush harmony driven The Western Den, this night will provide a huge kick-off to the mini residency!

The Novel Ideas are a country folk quintet of friends from the great state of Massachusetts. Featuring the voices of three different songwriters, The Novel Ideas create a blend of pastoral, harmony driven, and plaintive Americana. In 2014 they released a 10" single "Lost on the Road", featuring two new songs and marking the band's first effort as a five piece. The following couple years have been spent touring nationally, writing, and recording as a band. Their latest release, St. Paul Sessions, was recorded live in an old church in their hometown. It features six unreleased songs, and aims to capture the raw, live energy of their live performance.

MILE TWELVE
Mile Twelve is a fresh, hard driving young band beautifully walking the line between original and traditional bluegrass. Based in Boston, Massachusetts and fast gaining recognition for their outstanding performances throughout bluegrass and folk circles, Evan Murphy, Bronwyn Keith-Hynes, Nate Sabat and BB Bowness create captivating songs and daring instrumental pieces from diverse influences. Banjo Luminary Tony Trischka says, "Mile Twelve is carrying the bluegrass tradition forward with creativity and integrity."

THE WESTERN DEN
Formed in February 2013, and driven by a shared passion to create music with purpose, The Western Den is the collaborative work of Deni Hlavinka and Chris West, who together, blend compelling lush harmonies with ambient textures to produce a sound all their own. They released their debut EP, Battle Hymns, in May 2013 and premiered themselves to the public, opening for Melissa Ferrick on the northeastern leg of her national tour, in the summer of the same year. They have since shared the stage with artists such as Tall Heights, Saintseneca, Lucy Dacus, Mark Erelli, Paula Cole and the Boston Pops.
