THE THINGS WE LEAVE BEHIND
Are you creative and concerned about the world?
Looking for people between the ages of 13-16 interested in taking part in a project called: THE THINGS WE LEAVE BEHIND. Over four hours we will work with actual objects left behind by refugees fleeing conflict-- keys, photos, jewelry, notes. You will be asked to think about what it means to have to move to survive and to respond to the objects-- through drawing, 3D, writing, music making. Your work might be included in an exhibition in London in November. The workshop is free- refreshments and all materials will be provided.
THE THINGS WE LEAVE BEHIND is a research-based project led by artists Teresa Albor and Lais Pontes. Using a collection of objects eft behind by refugees in transition, the project aims to connect all of us, on a human level, with what it means to be a migrant/refugee. The objects are used as conversation starters-- students, refugees and others, are asked to react to the objects, the artists document this process. An installation of some of this documentation will be hosted by m2 Gallery on 20 Nov. For more information about the project please visit: www.thethingsweleavebehind.moonfruit.com
