Workshop: Improvised Singing w/ Scott & Brody (SF Improv Festival 2012)
Improvised Singing 101 (4 hours)
Starting with the basics of note production, tone matching, chord matching and rhyming, we'll move quickly (and fearlessly!) into creating solos, duets and group songs. Familiarity with basic improv principles required.
An improviser for over 25 years, Barbara Scott is a member of BATS Improv and a founding member of True Fiction Magazine. She has led master improv classes at Stanford University, BATS Improv, Full Circle Productions, the AFTRA Conservatory, SF Opera Center, Dell'Arte School of Physical Theatre, The Funny Women Fest in Chicago, and at many international improv festivals. She is also the recipient of the SFIF 2010 Outstanding Contribution to the Improv Community Award.
Joshua Raoul Brody is music director for BATS Improv, a founding member of True Fiction Magazine and Pulp Playhouse, and has accompanied Three For All, Comedy Store Players, Robin Williams, Lily Tomlin, and many others. He and Ms. Scott have been teaching song improvisation, together and separately, for over 25 years, and are working on a book on the subject.
