Sounds of Kyrgyzstan: Kyrgyz Republic 25th Anniversary of Independence Gala
Sounds of Kyrgyzstan: Kyrgyz Republic 25th Anniversary of Independence Gala at Chicago's Nichols Concert Hall, Saturday, November 5th, 2016 at 7:30 pm

Kyrgyz American Foundation will present an historical gala concert celebrating the 25th anniversary of Kyrgyz Independence and Kyrgyz-US relations, featuring world-class Kyrgyz and American artists at Chicagos Nichols Concert Hall at the Music Institute of Chicago.

Kyrgyzstan, formerly part of the Soviet Union, is a young sovereign country located in the heart of Central Asia, known as one of the ancient civilizations of Eurasia with a rich cultural heritage and tradition.

The concert will feature a colorful variety of music including Chicago premieres of works by great Kyrgyz classical composers, as well as opera, Broadway showtunes, solo piano pieces and traditional Kyrgyz folk music. The performers will be New York and Chicago-based artists, including concert pianists Azamat Sydykov and Jonathan Levin, Soprano Nikoleta Rallis, Komuz master Perizat Kopobaeva and Cellist Nazgul Bekturova.  They will be presenting music by Kyrgyz composers, Atay Ogonbaev, Karamoldo Orozov, Kalyi Moldobasanov, Nasyr Davlesov, Mikhail Burshtin, Jyldyz Maldybaeva and Muratbek Begaliev, heard for the first time in Chicago area.

Created by three distinguished New York artists, Sydykov, Levin and Rallis, Kyrgyz American Foundation represents unity and friendship, seeking to open new opportunities for Kyrgyzstan and America. We have embarked on a journey to strengthen civil, humanitarian and cultural ties between Kyrgyzstan and the United States, explains Azamat Sydykov, KAFs President. By creating artistic and educational events and collaborations, we hope to promote values of freedom and unity through enlightenment, cultivating a sense of identity and community for Kyrgyz populations living in the US.  Chicago is home to the largest Kyrgyz population living and contributing to the United States.  This event will open a new chapter in the history of Kyrgyz-American relations, using the power of art and music as a bridge between two cultures, Sydykov says. It will be an introduction to our work and the scope of our mission to come.
