Description
According to Senator Joe Simitian, a precious natural resource is at risk, the Delta is going to hell in a hand basket.

Please join us on February 8th for the second in our Turning the Tables series of dinners that speak to the direct and complex relationship between Climate Change and Food Production.  The focus of this dinner is the crisis facing our Delta, how that crisis both impacts and is impacted by our food system and other urban pressures. The Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta is at a tipping point. If we mobilize and act now, we can preserve the estuary and keep California on a path to a sustainable future.

The panel discussion will keynote Senator Joe Simitian, author of SB 27, an important piece of legislation aimed at tackling the problems of the Delta, Senator Simitian will discuss Governor Arnold Schwarzeneggers Delta Vision Blue Ribbon Task Force report from December 2007, SB 27 and what individual citizens can do to keep Californias water supply clean and available.

Senator Simitian will be joined by two leading authorities on water issues, Laura Harnish of Environmental Defense and Paul Johnson owner of Monterey Fish and author of Fish Forever.

Celebrated chef Patricia Unterman will serve as our Honorary Chef for the evening. Ms Unterman, renowned for her commitment to locally and sustainably harvested seafood, is the owner of Hayes Street Grill, reviews restaurants for the San Francisco Examiner, and wrote The San Francisco Food Lovers Guide. Ms Unterman will create delicious dinner that celebrates the seafood and produce from the Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta.

The cost of the dinner and discussion panel is $125 per person, and includes a donation to Food From the Parks, a non-profit educational forum focused on sustainable food education. It all takes place at 1 Fort Mason, overlooking the spot where the Sacramento River empties into the Pacific Ocean.
