He was Deal-A-Day Dennis, a CEO admired on Wall Street who built a small, unknown Tyco into a powerhouse that acquired company after company. Dennis Kozlowskis life was a rags-to-riches American story until he and his associates were indicted in 2002 and accused in a $600 million racketeering scheme. Even after Enron, Martha Stewart, and Gordon Gekko, it was Kozlowski who became the face of corporate greed. Catherine Neals Taking Down the Lion is the definitive telling of this important yet largely misunderstood episode in U.S. business history.
Catherine Neal is an Associate Professor of Business Ethics and Business Law in the Haile/US Bank College of Business at Northern Kentucky University. She is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Law where she was a Corporate Law Fellow. Professor Neal researches, publishes, and lectures about white collar crime, corporate scandals, and ethical decision-making in business. When researching the Tyco corporate scandal, Professor Neal was granted unprecedented access to Dennis Kozlowski, his papers, attorneys, family, friends, and former Tyco colleagues as well as transcripts and evidence from two criminal trials. Neal's research included interviews with former Manhattan DA Robert Morgenthau and with the foreman of the jury that convicted Kozlowski.
