Lucy Popescu Literary Evening
We are delighted to welcome Lucy to Ramsgate to talk about her book A Country of Refuge, an anthology of writings about asylum seekers, published in June 2016. Many wonderful writers, including Sebastian Barry, William Boyd, AL Kennedy and Marina Lewycka, have contributed original stories, prose, memoir and poetry.
A beautiful insight into the painful individuality of the refugee Jon Snow
A powerful, and frequently harrowing, collection I read it with fascination Penelope Lively

EVENING PROGRAMME The doors will open at 7pm with the readings commencing from 7.30. Lucy will be joined in selected readings from the anthology by Ramsgate actors to bring to life for us the touching stories of those affected by extraordinary events.
The readings will conclude at 8.30 when the audience can mingle and ask questions until we wrap up the evening at 9.30.
The event will be held upstairs at Archive Homestore and Kitchen, a design led lifestyle store based in the arches at Ramsgate's beautiful Georgian harbour. Drinks, alcoholic and soft, as well as a broad range of teas and coffees, will be available to buy throughout the evening from the Archive counter along with their delicious selection of cakes.
The upstairs venue at Archive has beautiful views across the harbour and over to the PERFUGIUM MISERIS art installation on the Eastern harbour arm. This is one of a series of events inspired by the thought provoking and poignant artwork and one that aims to raise funds for the continuation of the temporary installation as a permanent iconic landmark on Ramsgate's historic harbour.
