Welcome back to Moscow's historic Bolshoi Theater, and an extraordinary afternoon of ballet from the companys storied repertoire!

(Russia, 2016) Libretto written by Yuri Grigorovich and Isaak Glikman. Choreographer: Yuri Grigorovich. Music: Dmitry Shostakovich. Cast: The Bolshoi Principals, Soloists and Corps de Ballet.

Dmitry Shostakovich first composed the jazz-inspired score for a ballet in 1930, that was condemned as immoral by the Soviet government.
In 1982, Yuri Grigorovich wrote a new libretto, setting the drama at a decadent seaside cabaret where a young dancer named Rita performs for a gang of shady criminals, including her lover. Away from the stage she meets a young fisherman named Boris, who tries to win her away from corruption and towards true love.
While The Golden Age was delayed due to last year's attack on Bolshoi director Sergei Fili, the incredible music and stellar dancing are well worth the wait!
140 min, presented with one interval.
