Friday October 28, 7:00pm (6:30pm for Q & A session) William Saroyan Theatre, 730 M Street, 93721
If you haven't yet heard about YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles), you will! This remarkable group, started by the Los Angeles Philharmonic in partnership with The Harmony Project and the EXPO Center, a City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks facility, is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year with a tour through California, and Fresno is one of its stops!
What to expect at this event: 6:30: A Question and Answer session with artistic and administrative YOLA staff members--this will be a unique opportunity to learn more about this important project to create a Music for Social Justice program in the United States. The importance of this conversation for all of us in the Central Valley cannot be overstated!
7:00: A concert featuring musicians from the Youth Orchestras of Fresno, conducted by Thomas Loewenheim, and the special touring YOLA orchestra, conducted by Juan Felipe Molano. Also an important part of this program will be a video that offers a history of the YOLA project and other essential background information.
Post-concert: a reception that allows everyone to mingle and discuss what they've just seen and heard!
This event is being offered free of charge to the community.
