Stephanie Lavon Trotter and Dora Gaskill have willfully extended their 2015 Alembic Residency at PWNW to further immerse themselves in performative research. On November 4/5/6 2016, they bring you Obstacles and Victory Songs, a shared evening offering their individual and collective results.

Sight Shadow is a performative installation by Stephanie Lavon Trotter. With collaborators Nancy Ellis and Dora Gaskill, Trotter enacts an operatic ritual, a show of light and darkness that illuminates the vulnerable spaces of individual bodies and sounds, where they unite and divide.

Dora Gaskill is implicating the letter S -- rearranging the furniture of inhabited constructs, stuffing herself into unstable structures, and excavating spaces for safety and sounds. "S-words" sorts correspondence between movement, light, shadow, and vocalization with collaborators Deanna Carlson, Nancy Ellis, Emily Jones, Chelsea Petrakis, Stephanie Lavon Trotter, and Celeste Weber.

Stephanie Lavon Trotter uses her voice and Sound as a foundation for creating performative installations. Recent work investigates the cultural constructs of Femininity, vulnerability, and isolation. She holds a MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College (2014), a B. Mus in Vocal Performance from Cornish College of the Arts (2008).

Dora Gaskill investigates bodies' relationships to image, language, memory, and story. She holds graduate degrees in dance and literature and is deepening her studies through the Body-Mind Centering Somatic Movement Education program. Dora is a lighting designer and stage electrician by trade, and her favorite practice of all time is backpacking.
