Bilbo Baggins is a simple Hobbit, who wants nothing more than to live peacefully and quietly... however, the wizard Gandalf has other plans for him! A band of 13 dwarves are planning a daring expedition to slay a mighty dragon and reclaim their kingdom. The reluctant Baggins is asked to join the band, for they can hardly hope to succeed as an unlucky thirteen. During their journey, they encounter dangerous trolls, then escape into Goblin country, where Bilbo finds a gold ring with magical power - a ring of invisibility! Bilbo is cautious and thoughtful but saves them in every crisis, but is he brave enough or clever enough to outwit the evil dragon Smaug?
