Drunken Shakespeare
Stockton, CA Pacific Theatre Arts is producing Livermore Shakespeare Festivals original sketch comedy Drunken Shakespeare, a short performance featuring Shakespeares famous drinking scenes and his beloved tipsy characters. Compiled by Professor Lisa Tromovitch, the short show will be set in a medieval-inspired bar where root beer floats and other deserts are available. The local pubs and ale houses were the community centers in Shakespeares time. Creating a pub on the stage of the Long Theater celebrates Shakespeares legacy during 2016, the 400th anniversary of his death," stated Tromovitch. So many of Shakespeares plays have characters who are drunk, and they are some of his funniest. Drunken Shakespeares director and Pacific Theatre Arts Professor Lisa Tromovitch is the President of the Shakespeare Theatre Association, an international service organization of producing companies whose primary focus is the production of Shakespeares plays. She is the President and Producing Artistic Director of the Livermore Shakespeare Festival
