Tonight, we hope you'l join us for an exclusive drawing session in our new exhibition "Taxidermy: Art , Science and Immortality." This will be a relaxed evening, sketching the Victorian mounts on display with a glass of wine and a chance to meet similar creative minds. Perhaps you haven't scribbled for years, or do it all the time, any ability level is welcome.

Artist and Naturalist Wilder Duncan will be on hand for any tips and advice if needed, but there will be no forced intervention! This is not a taught session nor workshop, just a sociable drawing occasion.

Feel free to bring your personal sketch book, pencils, watercolors etc. Basic paper and pencils will be available at a nominal cost if you don't have your own materials.

Wilder Duncan is an artist whose work puts a modern-day spin on the genre of Vanitas still life. Although formally trained as a realist painter at Wesleyan University, he has had a lifelong passion for, and interest in, natural history. Self-taught rogue taxidermist and professional specimen preparator, Wilder worked for several years at The Evolution Store creating, repairing, and restoring objects of natural historical interest such as taxidermy, fossils, seashells, minerals, insects, tribal sculptures, and articulated skeletons both animal and human. Wilder works part time creating new exhibitions at the American Museum of Natural History and also performs work for private collectors, giving a new life to old mounts, and new smiles to toothless skulls.
