Organ Recital of Zoltan Varga
Zoltan Varga (1983) is a Hungarian-born church and concert organist, currently working as Organist and Music Director at St. John before the Latin Gate Catholic Church in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Before moving to Oklahoma from Hungary in May 2015, he worked as an organ lecturer at the Calvinist Academy of Theology in Papa, Hungary for two years.

He graduated first from the University of Debrecen (Hungary) as an organist and chamber musician, where his teachers were Hedvig Jakab, and Szilard Kovacs. He continued his musical studies at the University of Gyor with Istvan Ruppert, where he acquired an MA degree in organ performance and teaching.

He has attended master classes and private lessons on music theory and organ improvisation given by renowned organists in Hungary, and also in Austria, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom.

Besides his musical studies, he also acquired an MA degree in English Language and Literature at the Eotvos Lorand University of Sciences in Budapest.

Zoltans musical talent was discovered in childhood. At the age of 11, he became a member of the Childrens Choir of the Hungarian Radio and Television. At the age of 12, he won first prize at the Zoltan Kodaly Hungarian National Music Theory Competition. He became one of the organists of the Sacred Heart Jesuit Church in Budapest at the age of 13, where he later became the organist and accompanist of the churchs 50-membered SATB Musica Sacra Choir (led by Tamas Ronaszeki), and served for eighteen years.

Between 1998 and 2008 he was also the organist of the Roman Catholic English-speaking congregation in Budapest.
In 2008 he taught piano and organ at the summer course of the Hungarian Catholic Church Musician Training Program.

In 2011, he was entrusted by the Hungarian Gregorian Society to play the final organ improvisation at the 5th International Gregorian Festival in St. Mary Cathedral in Vac, Hungary.
Between 2010 and 2013 he worked as a piano and organ instructor at Bela Bartok State Music School in Papa, Hungary, where he also taught music in English to children of NATO soldiers serving at Papa Air Base.

Zoltan has presented recitals both as a soloist and a chamber musician in several churches and concert venues in Europe, and he has also performed in some states of the United States of America, as well.

He is married to Borbala Baboth, they have a son, Pal (born in 2013).
