THOM PAIN (based on nothing)
Will Eno's astounding THOM PAIN (based on nothing) has defied description, but, simply, it features a man who tells about bees and their sting, a boy with a dog who died, and the man's experience with a woman. But critics have been unanimous in their praise: "one of those treasured nights in the theatre...a small masterpiece" NY Times; "one of the best monologues ever seen" The Guardian of London; "a brilliantly constructed monologue...a direct descendant of Samuel Beckett" LA Times. A finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in 2005, this production of THOM PAIN (based on nothing) is a 10-year anniversary revival of its first St. Louis production. Once again, Joe Hanrahan of The Midnight Company will perform, and Larry Dell will direct. And it will be performed in the same location. In 2006, it was called Balaban's, now called Herbie's Vintage 72. But this will be the last ride for Midnight at Herbie's. The company has presented several productions there, but Herbie's will be moving to Clayton in October, 2016. So for the final time audiences will be able to watch a play here, enjoying adult beverages during the performance, with fine dining available pre and post-show. Join us for this singular performance in this magnificent space!
