Viva la mamma (Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali)
The Florida Lyric Opera is excited to announce our next production.  On July 28th and 30th, 2016, we will present Donizettis hilarious opera within an opera, Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali which is also known as Viva la mamma.
This production is a cross between Phantom of the Opera and Hairspray.  The production will feature baritone, Stefanos Koroneos, as the mamma.  Recognized internationally as a winning baritone with comedic skill, Mr. Koroneos has performed at theatres which include Teatro Alla Scala, Reggio Di Parma and the Bolshoi Theatre.  The director for our production is Jared ORoark.  Jared is the creator and artistic director for Project:  Shattered Silence(PSS).  The documentary about PSS has won multiple awards which include regional Emmys, Best Documentary at the Montreal Wreath Film Festival, and Best Screenplay Documentary at the Global Independent Film Awards of 2016.  We are fortunate to have American pianist and conductor, Sean Kelly, at the podium.  Mr. Kelly has been praised by the New York Times for his assured music direction and by Opera News for his musical and theatrical integrity.  He has worked for the Metropolitan Opera, the Atlanta Opera, Wolftrap Opera, and Teatro Comunale  Reggio Calabria Francesco Cilea to name a few.
Viva la mamma will be sung in Italian with English dialogue.  The performances will be held at The Space at 2106 Main Street in historic West Tampa.  The Space is an alternative arts venue which caters to events that are outside the box.  Our projects creative concept fits right in!
