Seashells and Inkwells - Literary Giants in Ramsgate
Ramsgate in the 19th Century was a magnet for many of the country's greatest novelists. Who came and why? What did they do here? What did they think of us? Well tell you about no less than ten of these literary giants so there are likely to be some surprises amongst their number.
Terry and Janet Prue have a passion for Ramsgate, its past glory and its hoped-for resurgence. Since 2011, Terry has been a regular contributor of historical articles to the Ramsgate Society Magazine and this year has organised heritage events for this Festival on behalf of Ramsgate Arts. Together they presented two talks at The Falstaff last year about Ramsgate's associations with events in 1815. Encouraged by the enthusiastic response, Janet has formed an Association for the renovation of Wellington Crescent.
