Norwich Radical Film Festival presents: "Reykjavik Rising"
Norwich Radical Film Festival is proud to present "Reykjavik Rising", which we are screening as part of our 2016 official selection - in advance of our main event in August. The film charts the growth of the "pots and pans revolution" in Iceland of 2008. The journalistic integrity of this film will put audiences in mind of George Orwell's work during the Spanish civil war - as while this Homage to Scandinavia shows ordinary people fighting to regain their democracy from the hands of the same corporate elite responsible for the economic crisis - it charts the mistakes and defeats of those same activists. The screening - taking place on the 13th of July at 7pm in Norwich's Forum Auditorium - comes after the Panama Papers - leaked documents showing how wealthy powerful people across the world had committed tax evasion and fraud - saw that vibrant street movement reborn in Reykjavik, forcing the Icelandic Prime Minister to resign due to his involvement in the scandal. We are extremely excited to announce that the film's director Danny Mitchell will also be in attendance for a question and answer session after the screening; making this a truly radical night to remember.
