Stanford Improvisors and Awkward Silence (SF Improv Festival 2012)
The SF Improv Festival presents a College Throwdown!
THE STANFORD IMPROVISORS (the SImps) were founded in the spring of 1991 by Patricia Ryan, to train and perform improvisational games and theatrical forms, and especially those techniques developed by Keith Johnstone. They continue to teach and perform improv at Stanford and in the bay under the direction of Dan Klein.
Awkward Silence is a completely student-run, un-funded, kick-ass improv team from the University of San Francisco. Started approximately a decade ago, this short form team has just started to break out of the University walls and has seen success in the Bay Area improv scene. In 2011 AwkSci won the finals at the EndGames Improv, and the following year won the Golden Gate regional championship for the Chicago College Improv Festival. This is the 2nd year the team is performing at the SF Improv Fest and they couldn't be more excited and appreciative.
