The Marriage of Bette and Boo
Christopher Durang is among the very best writers of dark humor. "The Marriage of Bette and Boo" is Durang at his very darkest. The play opens with the aforementioned marriage of Bette and Boo. The journey into despair and dysfunction that follows is both strangely hilarious and surprisingly touching. Stillborn babies, alcoholism, institutionalization and disease are masterfully woven by Durang into a rich, black tapestry that has us laughing even as we wonder at ourselves for doing so.
