BTC One Acts - An Evening of the Outrageous and the Absurd
The Brewster Theater Company is presenting ONE ACTS AN EVENING OF THE OUTRAGEOUS AND ABSURD by playwright Christopher Durang. Mr Durang is a Tony Award-winning playwright whose plays include: A HISTORY OF THE AMERICAN FILM (Tony nomination, Best Book of a Musical, 1978), THE ACTORS NIGHTMARE, SISTER MARY IGNATIUS EXPLAINS IT ALL FOR YOU (Obie award), BEYOND THERAPY, BABY WITH THE BATHWATER, THE MARRIAGE OF BETTE AND BOO, BETTYS SUMMER VACATION, ADRIFT IN MACAO, and the recent Tony Award winning Best Play VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE. Mr. Durang has a B.A. from Harvard College, and an M.F.A. in Playwriting from Yale School of Drama. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild Council.
Each year, The Brewster Theater Company presents one acts in order for members of our community to have the opportunity to get up on stage. It allows first timers the chance to get their feet wet; or actors who have been on hiatus a comfortable place to re-acquaint themselves with performing; or those that enjoy a creative outlet between mainstage productions. The One Acts are co-directed by Stacy Dumont (President of BTC) and Christopher Gladysz (Vice-President of BTC). Gladysz explains, "It will be a fun evening for actors and audience alike each one act is wacky, a little naughty, somewhat offensive, and silly. We hope each one act will provoke and tickle the funny bone!"
The evening's performances include: AN ACTOR'S NIGHTMARE, 'DENTITY CRISIS, MEDEA, WANDA'S VISIT, THE BOOK OF LEVITICUS, and many more.
