Key Note Speaker: Alice Sharp

Alice is the Managing Director of Experiential Play, she is an inspiring keynote speaker, seminar and workshop leader, who travels the Globe sharing her vision for our children's future. She loves to provoke thinking and challenge practice to ensure that every child has the opportunity to be involved in the highest quality of playfulness

As a qualified Primary Teacher Alice is passionate about children's well-being and learning potential, especially through equal access to the same high quality opportunities for learning.

Keynote Synopsis:
Talking, listening, reading and writing are all skills we value highly. Every early years professional will champion theses skills in their establishment. So too should be the case for the promotion of a Value based approach to Play. Play where every child is treated fairly and equally. Play where we celebrate difference and similarities too.
The experiences we share should promote the ideals that our children think, talk about and find agreement on the rules and boundaries of their play and often think about the consequences of their actions for those they are engaging with.
Through curiosity, investigation and discovery we help all our children to develop a positive sense of themselves, to have hopes, dreams and aspirations. Our ethos should be one of community, friendship, sharing and accepting. When we support children in celebrating their own and other cultures and faiths we are promoting respect and tolerance of all. Lets explore what that all looks like!

Curiosity Investigation and Discovery (The C.I.D Approach)
Speaker: Alice Sharp
Workshop A Synopsis:
Every childs imagination is captured by an exciting image, story or situation.  Play experiences which stimulate childrens thinking and engagement helps children make sense of the learning they are involved in. Each childs learning journey should be unique.  How do we encourage, support and allow an individual learning journey for each child, while ensuring all are engaged in meaningful opportunities which are exciting and inspirational.

Outdoor Learning in the Early Years
Speaker: Cath Larkin
Workshop B Synopsis:
In a time when the free range child no longer exists, how do we ensure that children get the quality outdoors experience they are entitled to? This workshop examines the barriers and benefits, examines the concept of Risk and shows how the entire curriculum can be delivered out of doors in all weathers, and how to demonstrate to parents that the outdoors is the natural place for children to be

Outstanding learning in community places
Speaker: Lisa Taylor & Jan Nettleton
Workshop C Synopsis:
Practical workshop using materials and case studies to explore how practitioners can use their local environment and community to enrich their provision.  We will explore practical ideas and activities to develop language, imagination, knowledge of the world in a creative way.

Tinkering for kids
Speaker: Nicky Edwards
Workshop D Synopsis:
Nicky will be introducing'Tinkering for kids' with this practical workshop.  Tinkering is about making things or fixing thinks with basic real tools. It will be a hands-on practical session, looking at using real tools with discussions on managing risk.
