Keynote Synopsis: Talking, listening, reading and writing are all skills we value highly. Every early years professional will champion theses skills in their establishment. So too should be the case for the promotion of a Value based approach to Play. Play where every child is treated fairly and equally. Play where we celebrate difference and similarities too. The experiences we share should promote the ideals that our children think, talk about and find agreement on the rules and boundaries of their play and often think about the consequences of their actions for those they are engaging with. Through curiosity, investigation and discovery we help all our children to develop a positive sense of themselves, to have hopes, dreams and aspirations. Our ethos should be one of community, friendship, sharing and accepting. When we support children in celebrating their own and other cultures and faiths we are promoting respect and tolerance of all. Lets explore what that all looks like!
