Lauren Crux // Show: My Lunch with Sophia Loren & Other Stories
Write-up: Acclaimed solo performer Lauren Crux serves up the unexpected with stealth, wit and artful seduction. Her intimate, alive stories filled with tenderness as well as subversive irreverence, allow us laughter and amazement, curiosity and self-reflection.
Crux unpacks life as a womanmake that a smart, ferocious, ironically hopeful, lesbian with sense of humor intact. While dining with Sophia Loren, she explores themes of sexuality and desire, the wonders of life's appetites and the longing for reciprocity in friendship. As an artist traveling to Ireland, she takes us on a journey to the center of one's soul, complete with red faeries, doubt and dead fish. And then there is the little problem of "edge" . . .
Crux's stories end with the audience recognizing and reconnecting with the things in themselves and the world that matter. She offers us "beauty with inner implications."
