2012 Candlelight Concerts : June 17 and July 1
CANDLELIGHT CONCERTS will include two candlelight performances with some of the Northwest's prominent soloists on Sunday evenings at University Christian Church.

THE PATTERSONS & THE HAPPY TABLE features Mozart's Horn Quintet in Eb Major, K. 407 with James "Jimmy" Patterson, Mozart's Viola Quintet in G Minor, K. 516 with Joanna Patterson-Zakany, the Flute Concerto in D Minor and the flute-violin duo by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach with Jeffrey Cohan and Ronald Patterson, and the Seattle premiere of Seattle composer Huntley Beyer's The Happy Table, which was written for the Sans Souci Ensemble. A reception will follow the performance.

BEETHOVEN SERENADE features Ludwig von Beethoven's well-known Serenade, Op. 25, which was written around 1795 for flute, violin and viola. The program will include Emile de Ribeaupierre's early 20th-century Deuxième Suite for violin and viola, and three works from from Mozart's time: Franz Christoph Neubaur's Trio in C Major, Florian Gassmann's Trio in D Major and François Devienne's Duo III in D Major, Op. 5, No. 3 for flute and viola.A reception folows the performance.
JAMES "Jimmy" PATTERSON was born in the Principality of Monaco on March 10, 1994 and moved to Seattle when he was 5 years old. A member of the NorthWest Boys Choir for 5 years, he started French Horn 6 years ago with Mark Robbins, and has been Principal Horn at Roosevelt High School and a member of the Seattle Youth Symphony for 4 years, serving as its Principal Horn. He was Principal Horn of the Rainier Symphony, the Academy Chamber Orchestra and subs with the Bremerton Symphony. James has attended the Marrowstone Festival for 3 years, studied at Boston University's Tanglewood French Horn Workshop and will participate in the Kendall Betts Horn Camp this summer. James has performed the Brahms Horn Trio with pianist John Covelli and his violinist father and recently performed the Strauss Concerto No.2 with the Rainier Symphony. He won 1st Place in the 2011 Washington State Solo and Ensemble Horn Competition. He will be attending The Juilliard School as a student of Eric Ralske. Jimmy's other loves are skiing and soccer, which he has played for 10 years on select soccer teams.
Violist JOANNA PATTERSON-ZAKANY joined The Cleveland Orchestra at the beginning of the 2006-07 season at the age of 21. Prior to that, she served as principal viola of the Canton (Ohio) Symphony Orchestra and the Sarasota Music Festival Orchestra. Ms. Zakany is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied with Cleveland Orchestra Principal Viola Robert Vernon. Her other teachers have included Margaret Pressley at the Seattle Conservatory of Music, Michel Mikalakakos at the Paris Conservatory, Karen Tuttle, and her parents, Ron and Roxanna Patterson. Joanna Patterson-Zakany has participated in the New Hampshire Music Festival and has also performed chamber music in San Francisco, at the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Happy Dog bar in Cleveland as a member of OMD, which was featured on national television and the New York Times. She is a member of the Omni String Quartet and has performed as soloist with L'Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, the Marrowstone Music Festival Orchestra, L'Orchestre de l'Académie de Musique Prince Rainier III, the Federal Way (Washington) Symphony, the Canton (Ohio) Symphony, Cleveland State University Symphony and will perform Walton Concerto this coming season with the Cleveland Philharmonic. ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~
