Women's Wisdom Weekend: Stitching Together Our Stories
What does it mean to come of age? To become a woman? To give birth (to a child or some creative act)? To become a wise woman?
Women's Wisdom at the East Coast Village offers a rich, ritual exploration into the physical, emotional, spiritual and cultural rites of passage that a woman will experience in her lifetime. A rite of passage marks a time of significant change in the life of a member of any community; a most profound rite occurs for women, prompted by Nature, when we come into our moontime, and then as we pass out of this time of life.
Open to all women who seek to honor the magic and mystery of women's rites of passage. Together we will explore the spiritual purpose of the moontime to restore our relationship with women's mysteries and re-connect to the lost wisdom of the Ancestors.
WHAT TO EXPECT
During this transformational weekend, we will explore our own stories of becoming women in our western culture. We will reignite the feminine gateways of power that is our birth-rite as women and rekindle the ancient knowledge of women's mysteries for personal healing and transformation within our communities.
Within a circle of women, we will engage in the traditional feminine wisdom and rituals of the Dagara people of West Africa to:
Name and claim our wisdom as girls and women
Remember our "Womb Wisdom" and the stories our bellies hold
Affirm our power as healers
Share our stories of feminine power
Peel back the layers to reveal our medicine
Explore our creativity while making a quilt that stitch together the stories of our journey on "Becoming A Woman of Power and Wisdom"
