ABOUT THE 48 HOUR FILM PROJECT
The 48 Hour Film Project, the first and biggest timed film competition in the world, brings filmmaking teams together to make a movie from scratch. Filmmakers write, shoot, edit and score a film in two days.
This year the filmmaking weekend began in New York on Friday, June 1st when each team drew a genre out of a hat. All teams were given the same character, prop, and line of dialogue which they had to incorporate into their films.
On Sunday, June 3rd, the bleary-eyed filmmakers raced to the finish line to submit their film by the 7:30 pm deadline. No exceptions!! No amount of crying, pleading or death threats would soften the heart of the New York Producer.
On June 8, 9, 10, all films will be viewed on the big screen in front of a packed house. Judges will vote on which film deserves the honor of "Best of New York" film while the audience will vote for their favorites.
The Best of New York screening will be Friday, June 15.
This is a competition that is exciting, exhilarating, frustrating, exhausting, and pure fun!
The winning New York team will compete against other films at the 48 Hour Film Project's Filmapalooza, our international screening and awards event. International winners screen at Cannes!
You will incur a $1.34 service charge when you order your ticket through Brown Paper Tickets. You can purchase your tickets for $12 cash at the theater, but we cannot guarantee availability at the door. Again, please note: theater ticket sales WILL BE CASH ONLY--NO CREDIT CARD PURCHASES.
