Spring for Peace is the annual fundraising gala for Peacebuilders International (Canada). Currently in its 13th year, the event attracts over 700 professionals and young professionals from Toronto who come together for an evening of live music and entertainment, great food, and live, silent, and fine wine auctions. The funds generated by this event are critical for Peacebuilders, as they comprise a significant portion of the organization's annual operating budget.
Peacebuilders is an organization that works to improve the lives of youth in Toronto's high-priority neighbourhoods. Youth referred to Peacebuilders' programs have often been in conflict in school or with the law. Through Peacebuilders' programs, these youth are empowered to take responsibility for their negative behaviours, and supported to develop their own road map to success. Unlike the "revolving door" plaguing the traditional criminal justice system, the Peacebuilders program provides youth with an exit ramp that allows them to become engaged, productive members of their communities. Graduates of the program have gone on to complete high school and enroll in post-secondary programs. Among them are criminologists, social workers and business majors who aspire to return to their communities as leaders who can make a difference.
