"Tap through Time!" Tampa Bay Taps - Center for Tap Dance
TAMPA - Inside the historic Cuban Club in Ybor City, the Tampa Bay Taps Center for Tap Dance will present Tap Through Time at 7 p.m. May 21. While paying homage to the beloved American art form, more than 15 dancers from across the state, ranging in age from 8 to 80, will join forces for a musical journey. Some highlights include soft shoe, a legendary Buster Brown tap routine, the Charleston and more. This high energy show will also include a featured performer and Tap Dance icon, Mr Ted Louis Levy. Mr Levy made his Broadway debut in the smash hit Black and Blue. He collaborated with George C. Wolfe and Gregory Hines on the choreography of Jelly's Last Jam for which he received a Tony nomination.
Before the curtain goes up on the main show, a tour de force ten months in the making, guests are invited for a cocktail hour with entertainment at 6 p.m. in the lobby. The Cuban Club, built in 1917, is located at 2010 N Avenida Republica De Cuba, Ybor City.
Tampa Bay Taps Center for Tap Dance is an educational and performance dance program under the direction of Beth Caprio and Cathy Scavelli.
