Recovering Natural Alignment
In non-industrialized cultures throughout the world, people walk, sit, stand, and sleep in a form of universal natural Balance that protects their backs, knees, feet, and other joints.
Modern industrialized peoples are born in Balance naturally and stay in Balance until they are about 3 years old, when we begin to mimic the poor posture of our culture. By the age of 6, almost all Americans have lost this naturally balanced posture. This poor posture is at the root of most of our back pain and can also profoundly affect energy levels, contributing to fatigue and exhaustion.
In this class, we will learn what the natural, Balanced posture of traditional peoples looks like and why what we usually think of as "good posture" is bad for our backs. We will learn how to sit in a chair in Balance and be introduced to standing in Balance.
