Soundwave ((5)): Revelations: Body + Space
Featuring sonic dance collaborations by [ruidobello] + Monique Goldwater, Matt Stines + Megan Trout, and special musical event by Polly Moller with a 13-member ensemble.
Revelations: Body + Space conjures imaginations of our bodies and space. Sound artist [ruidobello] collaborates with dancer Monique Goldwater to present 'Womb,' which investigates concepts of physical, emotional, and spiritual rebirth, and how we can regenerate through artistic revelation. Theater composer Stines creates MACHINAL, a tone poem inspired by Sophie Treadwell's 1928 expressionist play, featuring dancer Megan Trout. Stines creates a tense sonic world revealing the deep anxiety of a woman trapped by society's unnaturally-paced change which serves as an allegory for us to examine our own path and the futures of one another. Composer Moller conducts 'Genesis,' a work that explores 11 dimensions of the universe and the magical creation of a new 12th dimension. 'Genesis' features 11 musicians performing along with their conductor, each paired with a dimension of the universe: three dimensions of physical space (gongs, harp, sarod), the 4th dimension of time (percussion), 6 other undetectable dimensions supported by mathematics alone (shakuhachi, saxophone, violin, viola, cello, bass), and the 11th dimension, where the creative act occurs (the conductor and wind chimes).
