Rubbish 2 Runway III
ABOUT
Rubbish 2 Runway III features a fashion show event, and a month long exhibition of dresses, all made from recycled materials,by nearly 50 local high school and college students . Each participating student was asked to consider creative possibilities for re-purposing discarded materials while also thinking about sustainable design and creating something lasting and useful and in this case, wearable. Each model will walk the runway in front of a panel of industry relevant judges for jurying and awarding of prizes. Dresses arejudged on Innovation, Use of Materials, Wearability, and Creativity. In past years, the recycled garments have shown imagination and thoughtful craftsmanship in reusing everything from packing peanuts to bicycle tires, newspapers, playing cards, and road maps.
Created by FRANK member artist Mark Elliott in 2013, Rubbish 2 Runway was created to be an outreach program in support of FRANKs mission - to support the local art community. Drawing inspiration from fashion design competitions and a desire to encourage artists to think outside the box, R2R has proven to be among the Gallerys most popular public events. FRANK Gallery will host a public reception for the exhibition on Friday, May 13 from 6-9p.m. as part of Chapel Hills 2nd Friday Artwalk. Allowing guests to view the dresses, and meet the designers. Sunday, May 15, at 3:00p.m. Mercedes Benz of Durham will host our designers in presenting the fashion show; each participating designers model will walk the runway for an excited crowd and our panel of judges.
TICKETS
Tickets will be soldexclusively through this website. Your ticket purchase not only admits youto the biggest trashion event of the Triangle, but supports this wonderful program and FRANK Gallery, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization.
Doors open for ticketholders at 1:30PM, the general public (non-ticketed guests) will be admitted at 2:30PM.Each ticketed patron will be presented with a colored wristband upon entry that corresponds with their chosen seating level. All seats within the seating levels are general admission and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Ticket holders will be granted early entry at 1:30PM to claim your seat(s) and enjoy light refreshments prior to the show.Each ticket optionlisted includes admission for one to the trashion show, including two options for seating - "Front Row," and "2nd-4th Rows." "2nd-4th Row" Ticketsinclude all rows EXCEPT front row seats.Other perks that may accompany your ticket purchase are designated within each category.
Advance tickets ARE NOT REQUIRED to attend the R2RIII fashion show. It will be open to the public with a $5 suggested donationat the door for any unsold seats or standing room only. Any unsold seats will be released on a first come, first serve basis for at the door patrons, but please do not count on them to be available.
No seats can be reserved in advance without a ticket purchase.
