New Rochelle Opera's Annual Spring Gala
This year, we are excited to honor Metropolitan Opera mezzo-soprano Rosalind Elias and internationally renowned Maestro Eve Queler.

Rosalind Elias - One of the finest singing-actresses of our time, Rosalind Elias has reached living legend status, performed leading roles with distinction with leading opera companies throughout the world, including the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Vienna State Opera, Paris Opera, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Hamburg State Opera, Glyndebourne Festival, Santa Fe Opera, the Liceo in Barcelona, and the Teatro San Carlo in Lisbon.  She has also performed on numerous occasions for opera companies and leading orchestras across the world.

In the course of her long career, she has performed more than 50 roles, spanning the classical and bel canto literature, from Dorabella and Rosina to Carmen, Dalilah, Eboli, Marina, Amneris, and Laura.  She has also created several notable parts: Erika in Vanessa, Charmian in Anthony and Cleopatra and the television premiere of And David Wept, for which she won her first Emmy Award.  Ms. Elias won her second Emmy for PBS "Live from the Met" performance of Hansel and Gretel as the Witch.  She also recorded a full-length performance for BBC Television in the title role of Carmen. With Hawaii Opera Theater, she sang Mme. Armfeldt in A Little Night Music and continued her association with Sondheim musicals as Heidi in the 2012 Kennedy Center production of Follies on Broadway, nominated for a Tony Award for Best Music Revival and for a 2013 Grammy as Best Cast Album. In 2013, Ms. Elias debuted to acclaim  with Opera Orchestra of New York in their Avery Fisher Hall concert of Andrea Chenier as Madelon.

Ms. Elias is a native of Lowell, Massachusetts and a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music with an Honorary Doctorate of Music.

Eve Queler - Eve Queler is recognized as a pioneer in the world of opera. As a guest conductor of many European and South American orchestras, as well as through her work as music director of The Opera Orchestra of New York, she has conducted high-quality performances of seldom-heard operatic masterpieces, featuring internationally acclaimed stars.

Maestro Queler recently received the nations highest honor for lifetime achievement in the field of opera, as the 2010 National Endowment for the Arts Lifetime Achievement in Opera award recipient. This award recognizes the distinguished work and accomplished career of Maestro Eve Queler.

Eve Queler has conducted over 100 operas in concert at Carnegie Hall. In addition, she has conducted worldwide, including engagements at the Kirov Opera, Teatro Colon, Hamburg Opera, Frankfurt Opera, Australian Opera, the Liceu in Barcelona, to name a few. Equally at home with symphonic repertoire, Maestro Queler has conducted numerous symphony orchestras including the Philadelphia Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, the Montreal Symphony, and the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana in Palermo, Sicily.

Ms. Queler is the recipient of numerous awards. In addition to the 2010 National Endowment for the Arts Lifetime Achievement award, she has received the Chevalier de lOrdre des Arts et des Lettres (arguably the highest award presented by the French government),and the Sanford Medal, Yale Universitys highest Musical Honor.
