July 9 Dance & Theatre Movement in conjunction with Fascinating Rhythm School of Performing Arts. Learn to move with the best of 'em onstage!
July 16 Auditions: Choosing A Monologue & A Song
Instructors: Chad Sweet and Bill Weiser. What IS the best piece for you to land that role? GLM Producing Artistic Director Chad Sweet will guide each student to find their best monologue. Local vocal coach and director of The Silver Dollar Men's Chorus, Bill Weiser, will talk about picking that killer song whether you're a singer or not.
July 23 Costumes & Make-Up
Instructor: Adam Whitney. Local theatre mainstay, educator and professional actor/designer Adam Whitney will take you through the basics of how to choose costumes and make-up based on character study, script analysis and what'll wow the audience. Hands-on costume making will bring it all together.
July 30 Improv Technique & Scene Study
Instructor, Rachel Lopez. With an extensive background in educational theatre & improv, Rachel Lopez, GLM's director of our Spotlight Program as well as an instructor through out Reno, will focus on developing improv skills and developing choices to use in a scripted scene based on improvisational work.
August 6 Scenic & Lighting Design
Instructor: Chad Sweet. Chad has designed professionally in the US and abroad and will talk about how to go from idea to reality, teaching painting and building techniques. Don't forget to bring your painting clothes!
August 13 Theatre Criticism
Instructor: Chad Sweet. Tying into all of the preceding workshops, we'll explore the concepts we've learned by watching a performance and critiquing it. For those that attend the Audition Workshop, we'll have a chance to perform and talk about it in a positive, encouraging way as an entire group.
